Anti Bullying Campaign
We believe that bullying is not acceptable. We are aware of bullying in schools in Tonga, of effeminate students whether they identify as leiti or not and are proactive in putting an end to it.
In 2016, a campaign was initiated that included the Miss Galaxy Queen visiting high schools in Tongatapu to create awareness of this issue for both students and teachers.
The Tonga Leitis Association will also conduct a National Climate Survey will also be conducted from Late November 2017 – Late January 2018 for students with diverse sexual orientations, gender identity and expression. An online copy will be available on this page in both English and Tongan for those who have been studying in 2017.
We hope that through our findings we will be able to have the data required to make concrete recommendations to educational institutes to review its policies on bullying.
